Too often, books are directed at fixing the guy; fixing a guy is like asking an oak tree to return to being an acorn! It doesn't work. As a Professional Counselor for many years, I have had the privilege to hear both sides of the story. When questions such as, "Why doesn't HE understand me?" and, "Why won't HE take time to spend with and appreciate me?" and many others, I realized that there was something missing in relationship counseling, but what? Then, on one remarkable day as I sat across from a young couple who were struggling with their communication, I started creating jokes about love and intimacy. Metaphors began popping into my mind and out of my mouth. I explained to the husband the difficulty of understanding a woman unless you are a woman, which she appreciated, and how guys want their mates to be like them, except in the bedroom, which he appreciated. Fortunately, they are who they are, different.
Women seem to understand men easier than men understand women. However, the guy can remember to appreciate her and accept her for the beautiful woman that she is and all that she goes through in life. It doesn't have to be so difficult and this is why I wrote this book, from a guy's perspective that makes sense to the other guys! and to their lovely ladies!
There are too many things in life that just don't make sense and no one needs to figure it all out. Because some guys are intently focused on solving everything, they forget to see past the issues and need to be reminded that they love their woman. When a guy can remember that he has a princess and a sexy goddess by his side, matters such as opening car doors or not being close with her because she is swimming in the Red Sea, are no longer tough to grasp. Even though times have changed, the guy can still be a Night in Shiny Shoes (since most of us don't wear armor anymore).
